From a neglected panorama and the poetics of sawing, by Enrique Roura, is a publication that has the same title as his exhibition at Rake Visningsrom, in March 2017.This publication explores the concept of the exhibition in another level, using the book format as his tool and medium, always linking back to the action happened in the exhibition gallery. The author sees the action of opening the space as a way of bringing the surrounding scenario into his work, and present it as the result (private/public) – and this gesture is translated in the book through the transparency and opacity of the paper and shapes that throughout the book, appear, disappear or metamorfose. Roura writes “Traces, is an act of creating by subtracting, and explores the possibilities of human body in a personal scale, can the action of an individual transform its environment?”.
Enrique Roura (Mexico City, 1988) studied a bachelor in Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and took his MFA at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (NTNU). His trans-disciplinary practice navigates a course between art, architecture and design. Pursuing the ideas of place, space and culture as the core and basis for his work.
